Between the Stripes daily transfer update 21/11/17

Dundalk FC are dominating today's transfer columns with expected incomings being matched with confirmed outgoings. Starting with what we do know, local lads Shane Grimes and Ciaran O'Connor have both announced their departures from Dundalk via social media as we brought to you earlier this morning (click here to read). https://twitter.com/ciaranoconnor10/status/932886323987435520

In more positive news for the "Lilywhites" however, Dundalk Sport's Gavin McLaughlin has just broken the news that Derry City defender Dean Jarvis is expected to replace Grimes at Oriel Park in the coming days, while Galway United and ex-Limerick centre-half Stephen Folan is also a target for Stephen Kenny according to McLaughlin.

In a final Dundalk FC update, goalkeeper Gabriel Sava has signed a contract extension which will see him enter into a fifth season with the County Louth club.

Over to Shamrock Rovers now and the "Hoops" are today being linked with a high-profile move for Aston Villa defender Kevin Toner. Currently on loan at League 2 side Stevenage, Toner is a product of famous Dublin nursery Home Farm and made his senior Aston Villa debut in 2016 in a Premier League match against Southampton. He made his first start for the Villans a week later in a 3–2 defeat to Watford with the Birmingham club already relegated to the Championship for 2017/18. Those first-team appearances were enough to earn Toner a new-deal at Villa Park but almost immediately upon signing the contract the defender was shipped out on loan to Walsall, where he made sixteen appearances.

A brief spell with Bradford would follow, while Toner has proudly represented Ireland's under-19 side on eight occasions, scoring once. Should Stephen Bradley be able to persuade the twenty-one-year-old to give LOI football a shot, which would of course mean a first taste of European football for Toner, it would prove to be quite the catch for the Tallaght club.
