Shamrock Rovers boss, Stephen Bradley expressed his natural delight on Friday night, after the Tallaght club overcame their Dublin rivals, St.Patrick’s Athletic, to retain an early grasp on pole position in the 2019 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division. An Aaron McEneff penalty was enough to separate the Capital clubs in front of a bumper crowd at Richmond Park.

Speaking to Between the Stripes TV reporter, Gerard Browne after the game, Stephen Bradley expressed his satisfaction in the manner of the “Hoops” display.

“We played some really good football in the first half and created some really good chances. Second half, it became a bit more scrappy and we had to fight it out. We showed a different side to us in the second half, but overall we’re really happy.”

Bouncing back from another derby defeat to Bohemians and a disappointing performance at home to Dundalk in a scoreless draw a week ago, Rovers have now picked up seven points from their last three games to take an early lead at the top of the Premier Division standings.

With Sligo Rovers picking up back to back wins of their own in recent weeks, Friday’s encounter between the two Rovers is set up to be a mouthwatering tie, in yet another weekend of scintillating domestic action.

With defensive options, Sam Bone and Ethan Boyle returning to near full fitness in recent days, Bradley was asked how he may use his squad ahead of that battle of the Rovers this coming Friday night.

“We’ll sit down on Monday and review the match day squad and pick a team we feel can win on Friday, that’s the way it is” responded the former Arsenal youth team player.
